My Focus

SCOUTING & RESEARCH

To reflect China's relevance as biggest single market for BMW, my task was to identify relevant technology and adaptation of existing vehicle's systems to China needs. Next to benchmarking, my focus was to execute studies and deep-dive analysis for interior-topics, projected modes and E/E-topics in general.

STRATEGY

Careful analysis and understanding of major market trends, technological enabler a crucial: A company’s identity, its potentials among competitors outline a path for strategical positioning in the future market. Position itself is relevant to shape future product with clear vision and envisioning a long-term success.

PRODUCT DEFINITION

Thrilled by identifying new trends, I love creating inspiring products and transforming them into business opportunities from the scratch: Methods like such as KANO can help to identify relevant issues to tackle. This leads to a clearly defined process of shaping a future product. This may cover aspects of an existing portfolio, local priorities or defining a product as a whole.

USER EXPERIENCE

The user-experience starts with Defining of the project scope, storyline and touchpoints. Providing a comprehensive, clear an appealing access to a feature or attributes of the product are not only relevant fur proper execution of feature, but also provide a potential entry point into eco-systems and business-opportunities. Right offer, right time and right context ideally shaped for a user.

PROTOTYPING

Bringing ideas to life with MVP's in an early stage is essential to continue or stop a concept or idea. I a couple of cases I could convince decision-makes with early prototypes that would outline a future product. Function, design and feature go hand in hand. This requires early involvement of diverse talents - Programmer, designer and engineers.

IMPLEMENTATION

With the rise of innovative LED-technology and BUS-architecture, I was involved bringing innovative light-feature to serial implementation. I have been involved in all aspects of it, starting with outlining specification, testing and final implementation. Having dealt with interior design under various aspects has been a major work field for me for almost over a decade.

Being a leader in automotive industry in China for almost 5 years, I was fascinated with the positivity to develop and application of new technology. Adaption of technology has always considered to be positive, unlike Europe where this is often considered as a thread.

The envisioning of long-term goals is the key to success: With high level of flexibility, ability for quick learning and speed for implementation, China proves that agility has become more relevant than a fixed mind-set or rigid believe system for progress.

Today, China has become the forerunner to bring digital functions and eco-systems into the vehicle. The vehicle gets reinvented again, we see a process of “sinologisation” in the automotive world.
